CCTV footage shows a man robbing a Punjabi wedding of a bag containing gold jewelry

A pre-wedding ceremony in Punjab’s Ludhiana turned into the scene of a major theft when a young man allegedly stole a bag containing gold jewellery and cash during a shagun ceremony. The incident occurred inside a crowded hall filled with guests and was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the venue.

According to the footage, the suspect, well-dressed and moving casually, walked through the packed hall toward an unsuspecting man from the bride’s family. He paused briefly as if surveying the surroundings, then used sleight of hand to discreetly take the bag. The video shows him concealing the stolen item inside his blazer before quickly leaving the hall.

The bag reportedly belonged to the bride’s family and contained gold jewellery weighing several tolas, along with cash meant as gifts for the groom. The total value of the stolen items is said to run into several lakh rupees.

Police were alerted shortly after the family discovered the theft. Officers reviewed CCTV footage from inside the venue as well as cameras outside, which showed the suspect fleeing the wedding hall. Police said efforts are underway to identify and track down the accused.
