A suspected incursion by Pakistani drones was reported along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, after unmanned aerial objects were spotted near Keso Mahansan village in the Ramgarh sector. Following the sightings, security agencies immediately placed the area on high alert and activated standard counter-drone measures to prevent any potential threat.
In a separate incident, another drone-like object was observed hovering over Degwar village in the Poonch sector at around 7:30 pm. The object remained visible for nearly ten minutes, prompting Indian Army personnel stationed in the area to fire a few rounds in an attempt to neutralise it. Security forces have continued to remain vigilant, and additional details about the object’s origin and purpose are still awaited.
These latest incidents mark the third reported instance of drone sightings from across the border in the region over the past few days, raising concerns among security agencies about increased aerial surveillance or probing attempts.
Earlier, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that India has placed Pakistan “on notice” over the repeated sightings of unmanned aerial vehicles along the Line of Control. He said New Delhi had formally conveyed to Islamabad that such activities were unacceptable, especially as Operation Sindoor continues to address security challenges along the western front.
Speaking at his annual press conference, General Dwivedi confirmed that Director General of Military Operations-level talks were held with Pakistan, during which India specifically raised the issue of recent drone movements detected in Jammu and Kashmir. He said Pakistan had been clearly told to rein in such activities and emphasised that the Indian Army remains fully alert and prepared to respond to any future misadventure.
The Army chief further explained that the drones recently spotted appeared to be small, possibly defensive unmanned systems, likely being used to monitor Indian troop movements or activity across the border.
Just hours after the Army chief’s remarks, multiple Pakistani drones were again spotted near the Dungala–Nabla area in the Rajouri sector. Indian Army personnel responded by opening fire in accordance with standard operating procedures, as security forces continued to closely monitor the situation along the border.
