Due to tensions with Iran, IndiGo bans flights to numerous Central Asian locations until February 11

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, on Tuesday announced the suspension of flights to and from several Central Asian destinations — including Almaty, Baku and Tashkent — as well as Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, until February 11, 2026, citing rising regional tensions linked to developments in and around Iran.

The airline said the move was part of a precautionary and forward-looking strategy, stressing that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew members remain its foremost concern amid the evolving security situation.

In an official statement, IndiGo said it had reviewed recent developments affecting the region and, as a result, made further changes to its flight schedules. The carrier emphasised that these decisions were taken after careful assessment, with customer and crew safety placed above all other considerations.

Through a travel advisory, the airline clarified that operations to the affected destinations are under constant monitoring and may be adjusted further depending on how the situation unfolds. IndiGo noted that its teams are closely tracking developments to ensure timely and appropriate responses.

The airline also assured affected travellers that they would not be left stranded, stating that passengers can either rebook on alternative services where available or opt for a full refund via IndiGo’s official website.

IndiGo added that it would continue to keep customers informed, saying that any additional changes or extensions to the suspension would be communicated promptly as circumstances evolve. The airline thanked passengers for their patience and understanding during the period of disruption.

Earlier, on Sunday, IndiGo had cancelled select services scheduled for January 25, including flights from Delhi to Tbilisi and from Mumbai to Almaty. At the time, the airline said these cancellations were a follow-up to its initial advisory and were driven by a continued emphasis on operational safety in light of recent regional developments.

Subsequently, the airline expanded the suspension, confirming that flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Tashkent and Baku scheduled for January 26, 27 and 28 would also not operate, reinforcing its cautious stance as the situation remains fluid.
