A fire broke out at the Delhi residence of BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad in the early hours of Wednesday, triggering a swift response from emergency services.
Officials said the fire department received the first distress call at around 8:05 am. Initially, there was some confusion over the address, with the location mistakenly recorded as house number 2. This was quickly corrected, and the incident was confirmed to have occurred at house number 21, which belongs to Ravi Shankar Prasad. Following the clarification, three fire tenders were rushed to the spot without delay.
Firefighters found that the blaze had originated from a bed inside one of the rooms of the house. Acting promptly, the fire personnel brought the flames under control and successfully extinguished the fire by around 8:30 am, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the residence.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, and everyone at the house was safe.
Authorities have since initiated a formal investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and to rule out any possible safety lapses.
