Police have uncovered a disturbing and meticulously planned murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, revealing that the crime was allegedly orchestrated by a woman and her lover, with the entire act recorded on a mobile phone.
According to investigators, the victim, Subachchan Rajbhar, was murdered on the night of February 1 in the Sarai Lakhansi area. What initially appeared to be a routine homicide investigation soon exposed a far more chilling narrative. The accused, police said, included Subachchan’s daughter-in-law, Pinki Rajbhar, her alleged lover Rammilan Rajbhar, and two of his associates, Sudhir and Rohit. All four have since been arrested, and the knife used to slit the victim’s throat has been recovered.
Subachchan’s body was discovered the following morning in a mango orchard in the village, with clear signs that his throat had been cut. After the family alerted authorities, a formal case was registered and multiple police teams were deployed to trace the killers. As the investigation progressed, officers began piecing together the events leading up to the murder.
Police said Pinki Rajbhar had been in a relationship with Rammilan Rajbhar while her husband, Chandan, had been working abroad and had not returned home for nearly two years. During this period, Subachchan allegedly became aware of the affair and repeatedly reprimanded Pinki, which reportedly created ongoing tension within the household.
Mau Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar said that sustained questioning, analysis of evidence, and inputs from informers led investigators to conclude that the murder had been premeditated. “Based on interrogation, suspicion and informer inputs, we established that the murder was planned by Pinki Rajbhar along with her lover,” he said.
As per the police version, Pinki allegedly complained to Rammilan that her father-in-law was harassing and mistreating her, and she urged him to eliminate Subachchan. Acting on this plan, Rammilan, accompanied by Sudhir and Rohit, called Subachchan out of his house on the pretext of drinking liquor near a village tubewell.
Once the victim arrived at the secluded spot, the accused gagged him by pressing his mouth shut and then slit his throat with a knife, police said. Adding to the brutality of the crime, the attackers reportedly recorded a video of the murder on a mobile phone, which has since been recovered by investigators.
In addition to the murder weapon and the video, police have seized Subachchan’s mobile phone and the motorcycle allegedly used by the accused to carry out the crime.
During interrogation, Pinki reportedly claimed that Subachchan had assaulted her and her child on several occasions and had behaved with “bad intent.” She allegedly told police that these actions prompted her to contact her lover and conspire to have her father-in-law killed.
All four accused have been sent to jail, and further legal proceedings are underway. Rammilan Rajbhar told police that he and Pinki had been in contact for around one-and-a-half years. He also alleged that Subachchan used to misbehave with Pinki and assaulted her when no other family members were present. According to him, Pinki’s husband was in Dubai and remained largely out of touch.
When questioned about the possibility of marrying Pinki, Rammilan reportedly told police that they would decide on their future after being released from jail. Pinki is the mother of three children.
Police said the investigation is continuing to verify all claims made by the accused and to complete the legal process in the case.
