A bystander saves the UP mom as she tosses her daughter into Yamuna and tries to jump

A tragic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district on Friday evening when a woman allegedly threw her five-year-old daughter into the Yamuna River following a domestic dispute and then attempted to jump in herself. According to police, the incident occurred around 5 pm in the Marka police station area, where Rubina Yadav, aged 30, pushed her daughter Pinky into the river. Alert passersby intervened in time and prevented the woman from jumping into the water, potentially averting another tragedy.

Authorities immediately launched a search operation, calling in a specialised team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Prayagraj to locate the missing child in the river. Rescue personnel are continuing efforts amid challenging conditions as officials attempt to trace the girl.

Police said that during questioning, Rubina revealed she had been living at her maternal home in Usra Dera along with her daughter Pinky and seven-year-old son Chintu for the past five years after separating from her in-laws following family disputes. Investigators believe the incident occurred after an argument between the woman and her mother, which allegedly led her to take the extreme step. Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case is ongoing.
