A female student is expelled from Indore University due to inappropriate behavior in the residence hall

A first-year student at Devi Ahilya University has been expelled from a university hostel after multiple complaints from fellow residents alleged inappropriate behaviour within the hostel premises, officials confirmed on Friday. The action followed concerns raised by students who claimed the woman engaged in objectionable conduct during video calls inside her room and used inappropriate items in the presence of other hostel occupants.

According to university authorities, the matter first came to light when a student submitted a written complaint detailing the alleged behaviour. Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Singhai stated that at least four additional residents later reported similar concerns. The complaints also accused the student of encouraging other hostel residents to communicate and form connections with unknown individuals through a mobile application.

In response, the university formed an internal enquiry committee to investigate the allegations. During the inquiry, the hostel warden carried out a search of the student’s room, where officials said objectionable items were recovered. After reviewing the findings, the administration concluded that the student’s continued stay could negatively affect the hostel environment and potentially create problems for other residents.

Based on the committee’s recommendations, the university decided to remove the student from the hostel with immediate effect. Devi Ahilya University, established in 1964 and located in western Madhya Pradesh, oversees nearly 200 affiliated colleges and said the decision was taken to maintain discipline and ensure a safe living environment for students.
