Six years after a four-year-old boy went missing from Rajasthan’s Dausa district, investigators now believe the child was murdered shortly after his disappearance and buried near the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, prompting an extensive excavation effort to recover his remains. The boy, Prince, vanished in April 2020, and police now suspect that his paternal uncle Anil and aunt Krishna were responsible for the alleged killing, reportedly linked to an ongoing family dispute.
According to investigators, the child is believed to have been killed on the same day he disappeared. Police allege that the accused concealed the body for nearly two days before burying it at night in soil dumped at a highway construction site. Subsequent road construction reportedly sealed the location, allowing the alleged crime to remain hidden for years. In a disturbing development, family members said the accused continued living alongside them after the disappearance and even participated in search efforts, diverting suspicion while the case remained unresolved.
Acting on recent disclosures attributed to the accused, authorities have launched a large-scale excavation operation along a stretch of the expressway where the body is believed to have been buried. Heavy machinery, including JCB excavators, has been deployed, and investigators are using 3D mapping technology to narrow down the suspected burial site. Officials have also contacted the National Highways Authority of India, as digging may need to extend beneath sections of the highway embankment depending on findings at the location.
Despite two days of excavation across a wide area, the child’s remains have not yet been recovered. The search operation continues as investigators attempt to verify the exact burial point amid altered terrain caused by years of construction activity.
Prince’s father, Jagmohan, who returned from Dubai after learning about the renewed investigation, said the family had spent nearly Rs 10 lakh searching for the child across several states over the years. He said the family had long hoped the boy would be found alive but now seeks closure and justice, expressing a desire at least to recover his son’s remains after years of uncertainty and grief.
