Govinda asserts that Karan Johar's film, Govinda Naam Mera, is inspired by his supposed unfaithfulness

In a recent interview with ANI, Govinda expressed his displeasure at how his personal life was seemingly forced into a fictional narrative. He said, “Someone made a film using my name, Govinda Naam Mera. I believe it was Karan Johar. In the story, the husband and wife argue because of a girlfriend. They begin doubting each other. This is an attempt to force someone’s private life into a movie.”

He added, “If we ever cross paths, I’ll give them the Rajinikanth treatment in public. No misbehaving, please! I request with folded hands—jokes don’t always look good everywhere.”

In the film, produced by Dharma Productions, Vicky Kaushal plays Govind Waghmare, known as Govinda, a background dancer who dreams of becoming a choreographer. His personal life is chaotic: he wants to divorce his wife Gauri (Bhumi Pednekar) to marry his girlfriend Suku (Kiara Advani). But Gauri refuses to agree unless he returns the Rs 2 crore dowry she gave him at marriage.

In another interview, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja spoke about how aspiring actresses often seek connections with established stars. She suggested that such interactions can complicate personal relationships, especially for married celebrities. Sunita argued that the lure of fame sometimes pushes newcomers to pursue relationships with famous actors, making life difficult for their spouses.

Govinda and Sunita married in 1987 and kept their marriage private for two years until their daughter Tina was born in 1989. Over the years, rumors of infidelity and marital conflict have surfaced, but Sunita has consistently denied any divorce plans.
