In Rajkot, a car strikes a divider and breaks in two, killing three people and injuring one

Three people lost their lives and another sustained critical injuries after a speeding car crashed into a divider on a railway bridge in Gujarat’s Rajkot district early Sunday morning, police officials said. The impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle split into two separate sections, which fell on opposite sides of the bridge, highlighting the intensity of the crash.

According to preliminary investigations, the car was travelling from Junagadh to Jetpur with four occupants when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle struck the divider at high speed, scattering wreckage across the roadway and causing major disruption to traffic movement until authorities arrived to manage the situation.

Police identified the deceased as Muskan Bagda, Arun Wala, and Jaideep Chauhan. Muskan Bagda and Arun Wala died at the scene due to the force of the impact. Jaideep Chauhan, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to hospital but later succumbed while undergoing treatment.

The fourth passenger, Amit Parmar, remains in critical condition. He was initially admitted to a nearby government hospital before being referred to a medical facility in Junagadh for advanced treatment.

Police teams reached the site soon after receiving information about the accident and began clearing debris while regulating traffic on the busy route. The injured victims and the deceased were transported to a government hospital, where the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination as part of standard legal procedures.

Officials said the accident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, and early findings indicate overspeeding as the primary cause. Investigators noted that the extent of the damage, including the car breaking into two pieces, suggests the vehicle was travelling at extremely high velocity at the time of impact.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rohit Dondiya, along with local taluka police, has initiated a detailed investigation to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine any additional contributing factors. Authorities have once again urged motorists to strictly follow speed limits, particularly on highways and bridge stretches connecting major towns in Gujarat, to prevent similar tragedies.
