Four people lost their lives and three others suffered serious injuries after a high-speed Scorpio SUV rammed into a tree late at night in Haryana’s Sonipat district. The victims were reportedly returning home after attending a wedding when the accident took place, with police suspecting that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed.
According to preliminary information, seven young men were travelling together in the SUV after participating in wedding celebrations in Bhavard village near Sonipat. The group was heading back to their respective homes in Kharwali and Ghuskani villages of Rohtak district when the crash occurred.
The collision was extremely forceful, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and leaving it completely mangled at the accident site. Four occupants died on the spot due to the severity of the impact. The deceased were identified as Ankush, Deepak and Sahil, residents of Kharwali village, and Golu, a resident of Ghuskani village.
The remaining three passengers — Ankit, Mohit and Sagar — sustained critical injuries. They were first provided emergency medical assistance locally before being shifted to PGI Khanpur for advanced treatment, where they are currently undergoing care, according to police officials.
Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene soon after receiving information about the crash and initiated an investigation into the incident. Early findings indicate that overspeeding was likely the primary cause of the accident, though authorities said further inquiries are underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.
