Namaste: A special front page for PM Modi's arrival is printed in the top Israeli daily

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second official visit to Israel, the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post released a specially designed front page to welcome the Indian leader, marking the significance of his return visit after nearly eight years. The announcement was made by the publication’s Editor-in-Chief, Zvika Klein, who shared the special cover on social media on February 24, describing the visit as historic and inviting readers to join in welcoming the Indian Prime Minister. The gesture reflected the growing warmth in diplomatic and public engagement between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Israel at around 4 pm Indian Standard Time, marking his first visit to the country since his landmark trip in 2017, which had elevated bilateral relations to a new level. During the visit, Modi is expected to hold extensive discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, focusing on expanding cooperation across several strategic sectors. Key areas of dialogue include trade relations, defence collaboration, and broader security partnerships that have increasingly defined the India–Israel relationship in recent years.

In addition to high-level meetings, Modi is set to address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. The visit aims to review progress achieved under the India–Israel Strategic Partnership and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in fields such as science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. Officials from India’s External Affairs Ministry have indicated that both leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments of shared concern.

Regional security issues are expected to feature prominently in discussions, particularly the evolving situation in Gaza following the escalation linked to the Israel–Iran conflict. Ahead of the visit, both nations reiterated their shared stance of zero tolerance toward terrorism and expressed commitment to strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism efforts. This includes enhanced intelligence sharing and coordinated strategies aimed at addressing cross-border security threats.

A joint India–Israel statement released prior to the visit emphasised that combating terrorism requires sustained and coordinated global action. Both sides reaffirmed their intention to deepen cooperation through multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force, alongside other international mechanisms focused on countering terrorism financing and extremist networks. The visit is widely viewed as an opportunity to further consolidate strategic ties while addressing emerging regional and global challenges through closer diplomatic engagement.
