What was meant to be a joyful wedding celebration in a village ended in tragedy when a 41-year-old man died after choking on a rasgulla during the feast. Lalit Singh had attended the wedding late Friday night and was taking part in the celebrations along with other villagers when the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, Singh arrived at the wedding venue around 1 am and was enjoying the food and festivities with friends and relatives. While eating during the feast, a rasgulla suddenly became lodged in his throat, making it difficult for him to breathe. Within moments, his condition began to deteriorate.
People present at the gathering said Singh’s face turned pale and he started gasping for air. The situation quickly created panic among the guests as family members and villagers rushed to help him. Several people attempted to dislodge the sweet from his throat, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
As his breathing problems worsened, those present immediately decided to take him to a nearby hospital. He was rushed to MGM Hospital, where doctors examined him as soon as he arrived. Despite their attempts to revive him, medical staff were unable to save him and declared him dead shortly afterward.
Doctors later explained that the rasgulla had blocked Singh’s airway, preventing oxygen from reaching his body. The obstruction caused severe suffocation, which ultimately led to his sudden death. A post-mortem examination was conducted the following day, after which the body was handed over to the grieving family.
The tragic incident cast a shadow over what had been a festive occasion. The atmosphere of celebration quickly turned into one of shock and sorrow as villagers struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.
