A violent incident was reported in Gurugram late on Sunday night when a woman was allegedly attacked with acid by the man she had been living with. The episode occurred at a government hospital where the woman had gone seeking medical help after reportedly being physically assaulted by the same individual earlier in the evening. According to authorities, the accused followed her to the medical facility and carried out the attack there.
The 30-year-old woman stated that she had been assaulted by her live-in partner prior to the acid attack. In the statement she later provided to the police, she identified the accused as Pawan and said he fled the scene immediately after throwing acid on her inside the hospital premises.
Following the incident, doctors referred the woman to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak for further medical evaluation. However, after examination, she was discharged as medical staff confirmed that she had not sustained any serious or life-threatening injuries.
Police officials said the woman is originally from Nuh district. On Sunday, she had traveled to Gurugram and was staying at her aunt’s home located in the Subhash Nagar area. The accused, who also hails from Nuh, reportedly followed her to the city and pressured her to meet him.
Later that evening, a confrontation took place between the two, during which the man allegedly assaulted her physically. After she sustained injuries in the altercation, her family members took her to Civil Lines Hospital in Sector 10 for treatment.
At approximately 8:30 pm, the accused arrived at the hospital, approached the woman, and allegedly threw acid on her before escaping from the spot.
Gurugram Police later confirmed that the accused man was arrested. In addition, another woman was taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation to determine any possible involvement or assistance connected to the incident.
