Bihar shock: In order to frame a rival, a woman kills her lover's granddad and a toddler

A disturbing double murder case in Bihar’s Motihari has come to light, revealing a sequence of crimes allegedly carried out by a 20-year-old woman driven by personal motives and an attempt to mislead investigators.

The case first surfaced after the disappearance of five-year-old Anshika Kumari on March 20 from outside her home in Hirapatti village. When her body was recovered two days later, police launched a detailed investigation, which ultimately led to the arrest of Shilpi Kumari. As the probe progressed, it uncovered not just the child’s murder but also an earlier killing linked to the same accused.

According to investigators, Shilpi had been in a relationship with a man named Nitish Kumar since 2024. The relationship reportedly faced opposition from Nitish’s grandfather, which allegedly triggered the first crime. Police say Shilpi set the elderly man on fire while he was asleep, killing him. To divert suspicion, she is also believed to have set multiple fires in the village, creating confusion and complicating the investigation.

The second and more shocking crime involved the murder of young Anshika. Police allege that Shilpi lured the child to her home and coerced her into making statements against her own mother. These statements were recorded on a mobile phone, suggesting an attempt to fabricate evidence and frame another individual. After recording the video, Shilpi allegedly slit the child’s throat and disposed of the body in a nearby field to avoid detection.

Investigators believe that Shilpi suspected Anshika’s mother of influencing Nitish against her, which may have motivated the act. The attempt to shift blame through a staged narrative indicates a calculated effort to mislead authorities.

The case was solved using a combination of technical and scientific methods. Police analysed internet data, examined digital evidence, including the recorded video, and tracked movements linked to the accused. During the investigation, they recovered key evidence such as two knives, blood-stained clothes, and the mobile phone used in the crime.

Officials described the case as highly complex, noting that the breakthrough was possible due to the use of modern investigative techniques. The Superintendent of Police confirmed that the team involved in solving the case would be rewarded for their efforts.

Shilpi Kumari remains in custody as legal proceedings continue, while the case has sent shock and concern across the region due to its brutality and the methodical manner in which the crimes were carried out.
