Following Iran's alleged attack on his office, Netanyahu makes an appearance in public

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that it had launched strikes against Israeli government and military locations, including the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, as well as security facilities in Haifa and east Jerusalem. The statement, reported by Islamic Republic News Agency, said the office of the “criminal prime minister” and the headquarters of Israel’s air force commander were among the targets.

The Guards, who answer to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said the attacks formed part of a broader retaliatory campaign. Khamenei was reported killed in joint US–Israeli strikes on Saturday. Iran described the latest wave as the tenth phase of its response and claimed the targeted sites were heavily damaged, while suggesting Netanyahu’s fate was unclear.

Shortly afterward, Netanyahu appeared publicly at the scene of an Iranian missile strike in Beit Shemesh that left nine people dead. He said the joint campaign by United States and Israel was intended to remove existential threats and potentially encourage internal change in Iran. He accused Iran of targeting civilians, contrasting it with Israel’s stated objective of striking militant infrastructure.

The Israeli military reported detecting additional missiles launched from Iran, with air defence systems intercepting them. Explosions were heard over Jerusalem as interceptions took place.

Iranian officials said they have carried out ten waves of missile and drone attacks since Saturday, describing them as acts of self-defence. They stated that Israeli territory, US bases in the region, and allied sites were being targeted in successive phases.

The conflict expanded into Lebanon after Hezbollah launched missiles and drones toward Israel in response to Khamenei’s death. Israel said it retaliated with extensive airstrikes on Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut and against senior militants. Lebanon’s state news agency reported at least 31 people killed and 149 injured in the initial toll.

Iran also said it had launched missiles and drones toward Israeli targets, Gulf states, and a British military base in Cyprus, as hostilities continued to intensify across the region.
