In Telangana, a girl was found pregnant after a botched scan; the family and personnel clashed

A case of alleged medical negligence has emerged from Narsampet town in Telangana’s Warangal district, where a diagnostic error at a scanning centre incorrectly identified a minor girl as pregnant, leading to distress within her family and prompting a police investigation.

The girl had initially approached the local facility after experiencing stomach pain. According to her family, the scan report shockingly indicated that she was pregnant, causing confusion and emotional distress.

Unconvinced by the report, the family decided to seek a second opinion. Upon consulting another doctor, they were advised to undergo further evaluation in Warangal. At a private nursing home, more detailed examinations were conducted, which clarified that the girl was not pregnant. Instead, doctors identified a small tissue growth in her uterus as the cause of her symptoms.

Following this accurate diagnosis, a minor surgical procedure was carried out to remove the abnormal tissue growth.

After learning about the error, the family confronted the staff at the Narsampet scanning centre, accusing them of negligence and holding them responsible for the mental trauma caused by the incorrect diagnosis. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a physical altercation between the two sides.

Subsequently, both the family and the scanning centre staff lodged complaints at the Narsampet Police Station. Authorities have initiated an investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The family has demanded strict action against those responsible, emphasizing that such serious diagnostic mistakes can lead to significant psychological distress and social repercussions.
