Nitish Kumar was uncontested and re-elected as JDU president for the fifth time in a row

Nitish Kumar has been re-elected as the national president of the Janata Dal United for a fifth consecutive term, reinforcing his continued leadership within the party.

The election, held on March 24, saw Kumar being chosen unopposed, as no other candidate filed a nomination for the post. With no contest, his re-election was effectively confirmed after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations passed without any challengers.

According to the party, the formal announcement and issuance of the election certificate are scheduled to take place at 2:30 pm at the party’s national headquarters in Delhi. The process is being overseen by the party’s national election officer, Aneel Prasad Hegde, a former Rajya Sabha member.

Kumar’s reappointment comes shortly after he was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha, further consolidating his position both within the party and at the national level. His continued leadership reflects the party’s reliance on his experience and political influence.

Several senior leaders of the party are expected to be present during the official announcement. These include working president and parliamentary party leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Bihar minister Shravan Kumar, among others.

Kumar’s unopposed election highlights both his dominance within the party structure and the absence of internal contest for the top leadership position, ensuring continuity in the party’s organisational and political direction.
