Shoaib Malik disputes reports of a fourth marriage, claiming that trolls are targeting his wife Sana Javed

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has strongly dismissed fresh tabloid rumours about his personal life, firmly denying claims that he is entering into a fourth marriage. In an emotional statement issued on Sunday, March 1, the veteran all-rounder criticised the spread of false information, saying it has caused mental strain for his family, particularly his young son.

Speculation began late last week when social media posts and some digital outlets circulated unverified reports that Malik was set to marry Pakistani actress Vaneeza Sattar on February 27. The rumours quickly gained traction in both Pakistan and India, prompting the 44-year-old cricketer to publicly respond — something he has rarely done regarding his private life.

In his statement, Malik outlined the timeline of his past relationships to counter recurring claims about multiple marriages. He said his marriage to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza ended in early 2023 by mutual consent. He explained that both agreed to co-parent their son after the separation and that he remarried only afterward, referring to his marriage to actress Sana Javed.

Malik, who wed Sana Javed in January 2024, said his current wife has been unfairly targeted by online criticism over matters she was never involved in, calling the harassment unacceptable. He added that since his second marriage, he has repeatedly been linked to people he has never even met.

A significant part of his statement focused on his son, Izhaan Mirza Malik. Malik expressed concern that his son is now old enough to access the internet and read the fabricated stories being circulated. He said the false reports, often created for clicks and revenue, are causing distress to those close to him.

He also criticised the culture of clickbait-driven content on social media, urging people to recognise that life is about more than online engagement.

While acknowledging that public figures face scrutiny, Malik said there is a clear boundary between legitimate interest and invasion of privacy. He warned that his legal team is monitoring individuals and platforms spreading defamatory content and that continued speculation could lead to strict legal action.

The statement signals a rare and firm stance from Malik, indicating he intends to actively protect his family from ongoing rumours.
