Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on Tuesday rejected viral social media claims suggesting a shortage of cow ghee for preparing the Srivari Laddu prasadam, calling them false and misleading. The clarification followed circulation of a video showing a ghee tanker accident, with posts alleging that the spilled consignment was meant for the temple and had disrupted laddu preparation.
The temple body urged devotees not to believe what it described as “false propaganda” and confirmed that adequate ghee stocks are available. It stated that laddu preparation and distribution are continuing without any interruption.
TTD explained that ghee procurement follows a three-tier supply system designed to prevent disruptions. Under this system, ghee is sourced from three different firms rather than relying on a single supplier, ensuring continuity even if one supply line is affected.
Officials confirmed that the tanker involved in the accident belonged to Indapur Dairy and was transporting ghee to Tirumala when it met with an accident near Kondapur in Kadapa district. However, the incident has not affected overall supplies because consignments from the other two suppliers continue as scheduled.
According to TTD, around seven lakh Srivari Laddu prasadams are currently available for devotees, indicating that preparation and supply remain stable. With pilgrim footfall expected to increase during the summer season, advance arrangements have already been made to maintain uninterrupted production.
The temple body also noted that routine maintenance of machinery and conveyor belts at the laddu preparation unit, known as the Potu, is being carried out regularly to ensure smooth operations.
Reiterating its assurance, TTD said claims that ghee stocks have run out or that Srivari sevas and laddu preparation have been affected are baseless and could hurt devotees’ sentiments. Laddu preparation and distribution, it said, are proceeding normally.
