Video: Following a collision between cab drivers in Uttar Pradesh, a man was carried on the speeding car bonnet for four kilometers

A dangerous incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district has drawn attention after a taxi driver was seen clinging to the bonnet of a moving car that allegedly sped at nearly 100 kmph for about four kilometres.

The घटना occurred near the India–Nepal border and gained widespread visibility after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to reports, the situation arose from a dispute between rival taxi operators working in the border area. The conflict reportedly began over picking up passengers when a taxi from Lucknow arrived at the location. Local drivers objected, claiming that the vehicle was not permitted to operate in that zone.

Amid the confrontation, a local taxi driver identified as Rambaksh Gupta, a resident of Palia, climbed onto the bonnet of the Lucknow-registered vehicle in an attempt to stop it from taking passengers. However, instead of halting, the driver of the car allegedly accelerated and drove off with Gupta still on the bonnet.

The viral footage shows the vehicle moving at high speed while Gupta desperately holds onto the windshield wipers to maintain his grip and avoid falling. The situation continued for several kilometres, creating a highly risky scenario.

Other local drivers reportedly chased the car and eventually managed to intercept and stop it, safely rescuing Gupta from the bonnet.

Speaking about the incident, Gupta stated that the car was driven at a very high speed for nearly four kilometres and that he had no option but to hold tightly onto the wipers to prevent himself from falling.

Police have taken cognizance of the viral video. Circle Officer (Palia), Jitendra Singh Parihar, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
