Actor and chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, was recently seen attending a wedding reception in Chennai along with actor Trisha. A video showing the two arriving together at the event has quickly spread across social media. The public appearance comes a few months after Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce in December 2025.
In the video, Vijay and Trisha are dressed in traditional attire. Vijay is seen holding a bouquet of flowers while Trisha walks behind him as they step out of their car and head into the venue.
They were present at the wedding reception of the son of Kalpathi Suresh and Meenakshi. The Kalpathi family is known for its involvement in film production and distribution.
Earlier, on February 27, Sangeetha’s divorce petition surfaced online. In the filing submitted at the Chengalpattu District Court, she sought the end of their 27-year marriage, citing infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect and desertion.
According to the petition, Sangeetha alleged that Vijay had an extramarital relationship with another female actor and described her married life as marked by continuous mental distress, neglect and abandonment. She also requested that the court conduct the proceedings privately to prevent additional pressure on the family.
The petition stated that the marriage had broken down irreversibly and warned that public discussion of the matter could lead to further humiliation and emotional strain. Sangeetha also claimed that Vijay had been emotionally distant since 2021 and had shown verbal disregard towards her.
She further alleged that he had forced her into “constructive desertion,” making her live separately within the same household while maintaining an open association with the other actor. The petition also mentioned that their children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, had experienced embarrassment among their peers because of the situation.
It was also revealed that Sangeetha and Vijay had exchanged legal notices and communication between August 2024 and February 2025 in an attempt to resolve their differences.
Vijay and Sangeetha were married in the United Kingdom in 1998 and later held another wedding ceremony in India in 1999.
After news of the divorce petition spread, social media users noticed that their son Jason Sanjay did not appear to be following Vijay on Instagram. Screenshots shared online showed that Jason was following actor Vijay Sethupathi and several other accounts, but not his father.
While some users reacted strongly to the discovery, others pointed out that Jason may not have been following Vijay or his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, even earlier. Jason Sanjay is currently working on his debut film as a director titled Sigma, which features Sundeep Kishan in the lead role.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s fans are looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan, which recently received clearance from the Madras High Court for its release.
