A 21-year-old woman in Maharashtra’s Nagpur has alleged that she was raped, blackmailed, and forced into marriage, leading police to register a case against five individuals and arrest the main accused. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Kapil Nagar police station.
According to the complaint, the prime accused, identified as Mustaq Shakeel Ansari, was known to the woman as a school friend. On November 5, 2025, he allegedly called her to a location near a temple along the Pili river and later took her to a relative’s house, where she has accused him of sexually assaulting her.
The woman further alleged that another accused, Raja Sheikh, along with two others, recorded a video of the incident. Police said the video was then used to threaten and blackmail her, following which she was allegedly coerced into marrying the accused.
In her statement, the woman also claimed that she faced continued physical assault and was pressured to maintain the relationship against her will. She alleged that she was taken to individuals claiming to perform occult practices and was forced into activities she did not consent to, including being made to consume meat against her wishes.
Police officials stated that after the alleged marriage, the woman had been living in the same area with the accused before eventually approaching authorities and filing a complaint. Based on her statement, an FIR has been registered against five accused under relevant legal provisions.
The main accused has been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the remaining individuals involved. Authorities have said that the investigation is continuing to verify all aspects of the allegations and gather further evidence.
Police have also advised the public to remain vigilant against coercion, exploitation, and fraudulent practices, urging individuals to report such incidents promptly so that timely action can be taken.
