A disturbing case has emerged from Surat, where a man allegedly murdered his wife, concealed her body, and attempted to mislead authorities by filing a missing person complaint. The accused, identified as Vishal Salvi, initially approached police claiming that his wife, Shilpa Salvi, a dietician, had been missing for several days, prompting a routine investigation.
The case took a decisive turn when a handwritten note was discovered at their residence. The note, reportedly written by Vishal and handed over to police by the couple’s minor son, contained a confession-like statement indicating that he had made a grave mistake and that his wife was no longer alive. This piece of evidence shifted the investigation from a missing persons inquiry to a suspected murder case.
Acting on new leads, police traced an abandoned property linked to the accused within the Salabatpura area. Upon entering the locked premises, officers noticed a strong foul smell and located a wooden crate inside the house. When opened, it revealed the decomposed body of the victim, allegedly hidden using raw cement to conceal it. Preliminary findings suggest the crime may have occurred several days before the missing person complaint was filed.
Investigators are now working with forensic teams to determine the exact cause of death, while the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Initial inquiries indicate the couple had ongoing marital disputes, with suspicion of an extramarital relationship being explored as a possible motive, though this remains under investigation.
