A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur has been accused of brutally assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute, allegedly biting her nose and cheeks and causing severe injuries.
The victim, identified as Pana, suffered deep facial wounds, including torn flesh from her nose. She was first taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors stitched around ten injuries on her face, before being referred to a medical college in Jhansi for specialised treatment.
According to her family, particularly her brother, the couple had a history of frequent arguments. On the night of the incident, one such dispute reportedly escalated into extreme violence. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, doctors have advised reconstructive plastic surgery to restore her facial structure.
Police have registered a case against the husband, Phool, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. He is currently absconding, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him.
Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing and will also examine whether there was any prior pattern of domestic violence. Meanwhile, the victim remains under close medical supervision as doctors monitor her condition.
