An 11-year-old boy, identified as Chaman alias Amar, was allegedly subjected to a brutal act of violence during a wedding function in Basti district, after reportedly taking sweets from a food stall without permission.
The incident occurred on the night of April 15 in Malauli Gosai village, where the child had gone along with his grandmother to attend a family wedding. According to police accounts, the situation escalated when a catering contractor became angered by the boy repeatedly taking rasgullas from the serving area.
Authorities stated that the accused first threatened and intimidated the child. In a sudden act of aggression, he allegedly picked up the boy and placed him onto a burning tandoor, a clay oven typically used for cooking. During the ensuing struggle, the child lost balance and fell into the oven, resulting in severe burn injuries.
Family members and guests rushed to the scene after hearing the boy’s cries and managed to pull him out. However, by that time, he had sustained serious burns extending from his face down to his waist. He was initially taken to a nearby medical facility and later shifted to a hospital in Lucknow for advanced treatment. Police have indicated that his condition is currently stable.
An FIR has been registered, and law enforcement officials have launched efforts to locate and arrest the accused. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Swarnima Singh, immediate action was taken upon receiving information about the incident, and further investigation is ongoing.
The case has drawn serious concern due to the extreme nature of the alleged act and the vulnerability of the victim, with authorities focusing on ensuring accountability and legal action against those responsible.
