Double baraat causes mayhem at a UP wedding when two grooms show up to marry one bride

A wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district took an unexpected and dramatic turn when two grooms arrived with separate baraats for the same bride, creating confusion and tension at the venue. The situation escalated to the point where police had to step in to maintain order and prevent a possible clash between the two sides.

The incident occurred at a banquet hall where the bride’s family was preparing to welcome a groom from Sambhal. However, the situation became chaotic when another wedding procession from neighbouring Moradabad also reached the venue, with both groups asserting that they were there for the same bride. The presence of two grooms, both ready for the ceremony, led to heated arguments and rising tensions among the families and guests.

Eyewitnesses reported that the atmosphere quickly became volatile, with fears that the verbal confrontation could turn physical. The bride’s family, sensing the seriousness of the situation, informed the police. Upon arrival, officers found both baraats and began investigating the circumstances behind the confusion.

It was revealed that the bride had earlier been engaged to a relative from Moradabad, but the engagement had been called off following a dispute between the families. Despite this, the Moradabad side proceeded with their wedding plans, reportedly because invitations had already been printed and distributed.

Meanwhile, the bride’s family had arranged a new match with a groom from Sambhal and fixed the wedding on the same date, possibly to avoid financial losses and social complications. This overlap led to both parties arriving at the venue simultaneously, each believing they had a legitimate claim.

After assessing the situation, the police allowed the bride’s family to make the final decision. The family chose to go ahead with the marriage to the Sambhal groom. The Moradabad party, recognising that the earlier engagement had been cancelled, eventually withdrew without further escalation.

Authorities confirmed that the matter was resolved amicably, with no legal complaint filed. The incident highlights how miscommunication and unresolved disputes can lead to unexpected and tense situations, even during significant social events like weddings.
