A woman employee at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has filed a detailed police complaint alleging sustained sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, and religiously offensive remarks by multiple colleagues at the company’s Nashik BPO unit, bringing further scrutiny to the ongoing controversy at the facility.
According to her statement, the incidents began shortly after she joined the organisation in June 2025. During her training period, she alleged that certain colleagues, including Raza Memon and Shahrukh Qureshi, made repeated personal and suggestive comments about her marriage and private life. She claimed that remarks were often intrusive and inappropriate, with attempts to initiate personal conversations that made her uncomfortable. Over time, she alleged that the behaviour escalated from verbal comments to actions that created an intimidating work environment.
As she transitioned into her operational role, the complaint states that another colleague, Asif Ansari, allegedly engaged in repeated unwanted physical contact. She described instances of deliberate touching, attempts to hold her hand, sitting uninvited in close proximity, and making explicit propositions despite knowing she was married. The complaint further alleges that he made offensive remarks about her religion, including statements that she found deeply insulting and humiliating.
The complaint also names Tausif Attar, who was accused of regularly approaching her desk, making sexually suggestive comments, and engaging in inappropriate physical behaviour under the pretext of helping with work. Another accused, Shafi Sheikh, was alleged to have followed her around the workplace and stared at her in a manner she described as uncomfortable and intrusive.
One of the more serious allegations involves an incident during a festival in March 2026, where the complainant claimed that her saree was pulled from behind by a colleague in a manner she described as deliberate and humiliating. She also stated that multiple individuals would frequently comment on her appearance and personal life, contributing to a pattern of harassment over several months.
The complainant said she did not initially report the incidents due to fear of losing her job, a concern often cited in workplace harassment cases. However, she eventually approached authorities and filed a formal complaint, detailing incidents that allegedly took place between June 2025 and March 2026 at the company’s Ashoka Marg office in Nashik.
The case forms part of a larger investigation into the Nashik BPO unit, where multiple complaints have emerged involving allegations of sexual harassment and other serious misconduct. The National Commission for Women has taken cognisance of the matter and constituted a fact-finding committee to examine the allegations in detail.
In response, TCS stated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion in the workplace. The company has confirmed that employees named in the complaint have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. The situation continues to develop as authorities examine the allegations and gather evidence, with potential legal and organisational consequences depending on the findings.
