A dispute over car parking in Indore’s Aerodrome area escalated into a violent incident when a gym operator, Ashu Vyas, was allegedly attacked with a sword, triggering panic in the locality. The attack took place on 60 Feet Road, where a neighbour reportedly confronted Vyas following an argument that quickly turned aggressive.
During the assault, Vyas managed to block the sword strike with his hand, preventing a potentially fatal injury, though he sustained wounds in the process. Local residents intervened promptly, bringing the situation under control and preventing further escalation.
The incident was recorded on a mobile phone, and the video has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention. Based on the footage, the police have initiated an investigation, although officials confirmed that no formal complaint had been filed at the time.
According to reports, the accused has been identified as Rakesh Khandelwal, who is related to BJP leader Kamlesh Khandelwal. The altercation is believed to have stemmed from an ongoing parking dispute between neighbours, which eventually turned violent.
It has also been alleged that when the injured man approached the police station, pressure was exerted by influential individuals to settle the matter informally and avoid registering a formal case. Subsequently, both parties reportedly reached a compromise at the police station on Monday evening.
However, after the emergence of the viral video clearly showing the use of a weapon, the police stated that they are treating the matter seriously. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to examine the circumstances and ensure that appropriate action is taken to maintain law and order.
