Violence against Noida workers: Two RJD leaders are charged with disseminating false information

An FIR has been registered against two Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokespersons, Priyanka Bharti and Kanchana Yadav, at the cyber police station in Gautam Buddha Nagar for allegedly sharing misleading content on social media and falsely linking it to the recent workers’ protests in Noida, which had caused unrest across the Delhi-NCR region earlier in the week.

According to the complaint, the two leaders are accused of intentionally spreading fear and potentially disturbing public order by posting a video that showed police personnel detaining and assaulting a man who was reportedly intoxicated. While the footage actually originated from Madhya Pradesh, Bharti and Yadav allegedly presented it as an incident that took place in Noida during the ongoing protests. Authorities claim that this misrepresentation led to confusion and provoked public outrage.

The police action was not limited to the two political spokespersons. An FIR was also filed against a user operating the X (formerly Twitter) handle @ItsKtyni and a Facebook account under the name Jitendra Sharma Dausa. Both individuals are accused of circulating similar misleading content by sharing videos from Madhya Pradesh while falsely claiming they depicted developments in Noida.

As per the FIR details, Jitendra Kumar Dausa uploaded a video on Facebook asserting that it showed events from Noida. The accompanying caption suggested that the person being beaten was a labourer and included provocative remarks questioning police conduct, while referencing the Noida protests. Similarly, the X user @ItsKtyni posted a video claiming to show the situation in Noida’s Sector 62, depicting scenes of fire and arson. However, investigators found that the location shown in the video was not within Gautam Buddha Nagar, making the claim entirely inaccurate and misleading.

Further investigation revealed that the primary video being circulated was actually recorded on April 11, 2026, in the Budhar police station area of Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh. It reportedly showed a man creating a disturbance while under the influence of alcohol, and the police response to that situation.

Authorities have emphasised that such dissemination of false information, especially during sensitive situations like protests, can contribute to panic, escalate tensions, and disrupt law and order. The case is being pursued to address the spread of misinformation and to hold those responsible accountable.
