A Gujarati man strangles his girlfriend with a laptop charger after suspecting her of having an affair

A shocking murder case from Gujarat has come to light after a man allegedly strangled his girlfriend, wrapped her body in a bedsheet, and dumped it in a secluded area because he suspected her of being involved in an affair with someone else. Police said the accused used a laptop charger to kill the woman and attempted to hide evidence before fleeing the scene. Investigators later tracked him down within hours by analysing CCTV footage from several DMart stores linked to the purchase of the bedsheet used in the crime.

According to police officials, the accused was identified as 25-year-old Rohan Parmar, who had reportedly been in a relationship with the victim, 24-year-old Divya Parmar, for nearly six months. The incident took place on May 3 when Divya left her house saying she was going to get mehendi applied to her hands. During the day, Rohan allegedly met her and took her to a water park in the Ankodia region before later moving to another isolated location nearby.

Investigators said that while the two were at the secluded site, an argument reportedly broke out between them after Rohan accused Divya of having an affair. Police believe the confrontation soon turned violent. In a fit of rage, Rohan allegedly used a laptop charger cable to strangle Divya to death. After killing her, he reportedly wrapped her body in a bedsheet, abandoned it at the location, and escaped. Authorities also said he switched off her mobile phone in an attempt to delay tracing efforts and avoid suspicion.

During the investigation, police discovered that the murder may have been pre-planned several days in advance. According to Sushil Agarwal, investigators found a DMart tag attached to the bedsheet used to wrap the victim’s body. This clue became crucial in identifying the accused. Police teams then began scanning CCTV footage from multiple DMart outlets to trace the purchase of the item. After examining recordings from various stores, officers identified Rohan Parmar as the buyer and confirmed that he had purchased the bedsheet just two days before the murder.

Using the CCTV evidence and other technical inputs, police managed to trace and arrest the accused within a few hours in the Netrang area. Officials stated that the speed of the investigation helped prevent the accused from escaping further or destroying additional evidence connected to the crime.

The probe also revealed details about the backgrounds of both the accused and the victim. Police said Rohan Parmar, who is originally from Bodeli, worked at a cafe in the city. Divya Parmar was employed at a private hospital located opposite the same cafe, which is reportedly where the two became acquainted before entering into a relationship.

The victim’s identity was eventually confirmed by her parents after they reportedly came across images and information about an unidentified woman’s body circulating on social media. Concerned by the resemblance, they visited the hospital where the body had been taken and identified the deceased as their daughter, Divya Parmar.

Police officials stated that further investigation into the case is currently underway. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence, examine the sequence of events leading up to the murder, and record statements from people connected to both the accused and the victim.
