Fresh CCTV footage has emerged in the death case of Twisha Sharma, showing the 33-year-old visiting a beauty parlour in Bhopal only hours before she was later found hanging at her matrimonial home under suspicious circumstances. Investigators believe the footage could become an important piece of evidence in reconstructing Twisha’s final movements and understanding the sequence of events leading up to her death.
According to reports, Twisha had visited Expression Beauty Parlour on May 12. She reportedly spent nearly three hours at the salon. CCTV footage from inside the parlour allegedly shows her appearing calm and relaxed while receiving beauty services, including a head massage.
Twisha, who worked as a model and actor, later returned to her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area, where she was subsequently found hanging from a gymnastic rope.
Earlier, Twisha’s in-laws had informed investigators that she had stepped out for a salon appointment on the same day before the incident occurred. The newly surfaced CCTV footage is now expected to play a significant role in the investigation as police attempt to trace her activities and mental condition during the final hours before her death.
Although the initial post-mortem examination concluded that hanging was the cause of death, Twisha Sharma’s family has continued to strongly dispute the suicide theory. Her parents pointed to multiple injury marks allegedly found on her body and accused her husband’s family of foul play.
Twisha’s family has also alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment and sustained mental torture after her marriage to Samarth Singh approximately five months ago.
The case has already seen major legal developments. On Friday, the Madhya Pradesh High Court approved a second autopsy of Twisha’s body following repeated demands from her parents, who argued that the first post-mortem examination was insufficient and failed to address suspicious injuries.
The second autopsy is scheduled to be conducted by a medical team from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS Delhi).
The court order came shortly after Samarth Singh, who had reportedly remained absconding for nearly ten days after the incident, withdrew his bail application and surrendered before the court.
One of the key aspects now attracting attention is that the CCTV footage from the beauty parlour reportedly does not show Twisha appearing visibly distressed, anxious or emotionally disturbed during her visit. Investigators are expected to examine whether her behaviour before returning home matches claims surrounding her mental condition.
According to media reports, the parlour owner Kiran Parihar stated that Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, contacted her the day after the incident.
Parihar reportedly claimed that Giribala Singh sought detailed information regarding the salon services availed by Twisha as well as access to CCTV recordings from the parlour. She further alleged that the mother-in-law later sent three to four advocates to the beauty parlour to inspect the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage from Twisha’s in-laws’ residence has also raised additional questions in the investigation. According to reports, the footage allegedly shows Twisha walking upstairs toward the terrace area at approximately 7.20 pm on the day of the incident.
However, her body was reportedly brought downstairs nearly an hour later by her husband and two other individuals. Investigators are now attempting to determine exactly what happened during the approximately 60-minute gap between the time she was last seen going upstairs and when she was brought down.
Reports further stated that after her body was brought downstairs, CPR was administered to Twisha on the staircase landing area inside the house. However, the attempts reportedly failed to revive her.
Questions have also been raised regarding why immediate medical assistance or emergency hospitalisation was allegedly not provided sooner after she was discovered.
At present, Twisha Sharma’s body remains preserved at the mortuary of AIIMS Bhopal. Earlier, her family had reportedly refused to proceed with cremation until stronger legal action and a more detailed investigation were initiated.
The results of the second autopsy are now being closely awaited, particularly to determine whether the findings differ from the conclusions reached in the initial post-mortem examination and whether they provide additional clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
