A tragic sequence of events in Udaipur district has led to escalating violence after the death of a young woman during medical treatment triggered a confrontation between her marital and parental families. The situation intensified to such an extent that it ultimately resulted in the abduction and killing of her husband, leaving the surrounding villages in a state of tension and heightened police vigilance.
The incident began in Chokhalabara village, where a 25-year-old woman identified as Paru, the wife of Pintoolal Vadera, passed away on April 28 while undergoing treatment at Maharana Bhupal Hospital. According to available details, she had fallen ill on April 24 and was initially taken to a local healthcare facility in Ogna. As her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Udaipur for advanced treatment, but despite medical efforts, she could not be saved.
After her death, her husband informed her family in Ambavi village about the incident. However, the situation quickly took a violent turn when, by the following evening, a large group of her relatives reportedly arrived in Chokhalabara. Allegedly armed with weapons, they accused the husband’s family of being responsible for her death. The group is said to have vandalised property, attacked the household, and created chaos in the village, leading to panic among residents.
Local villagers alerted authorities, and police personnel reached the location to control the situation. However, some residents later claimed that the response was not sufficiently assertive, alleging that officers did not take immediate action to prevent the damage caused by the mob. Amid fears of further escalation, Pintoolal and his family reportedly fled the village to ensure their safety. Eventually, the situation was brought under temporary control, and the crowd dispersed.
The tension, however, resurfaced the next morning when members of the woman’s family allegedly returned. In a more serious escalation, her brother Karan, along with several associates, is accused of abducting Pintoolal at gunpoint from the village. He was reportedly taken to Ambavi before law enforcement could intervene effectively.
Soon after the abduction, the 26-year-old man was allegedly killed, turning an already volatile dispute into a fatal incident. Authorities have confirmed that the region remains tense, with security measures in place to prevent further violence. Police have initiated an investigation into both the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and the subsequent acts of violence, including the alleged kidnapping and murder, as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
