As police approach, a UP man kills his pregnant sister-in-law and threatens to blow up the house

A shocking murder in Saharanpur left an entire neighbourhood terrified after an allegedly intoxicated man killed his pregnant sister-in-law with a spade inside their home and later threatened to blow up the house by opening a gas cylinder during a tense standoff with police.

The accused, identified as Aamir, allegedly attacked his pregnant sister-in-law, Sana Na,z on Sunday evening following a heated argument at the family residence.

According to police and family members, Sana Naz had married Salman in a love marriage around six months ago and had been living with her husband and his family since then. Relatives said the household had remained peaceful until the violent incident unfolded.

Family members alleged that Aamir returned home under the influence of drugs, after which an argument broke out between him and Sana Naz.

The dispute quickly escalated into violence when Aamir allegedly picked up a spade lying inside the house and attacked her repeatedly.

Police said the woman suffered severe injuries to her head, neck and abdomen after being struck multiple times with the weapon.

Pregnant at the time of the assault, Sana Naz collapsed inside the house while screaming for help, drawing the attention of neighbours and relatives nearby.

When her husband Salman attempted to intervene and save her, the accused allegedly stood beside the body holding the blood-stained spade and threatened anyone who tried to enter the room.

Terrified residents gathered outside the house but reportedly did not dare approach due to Aamir’s violent behaviour.

According to local police, the accused became so aggressive that even police personnel initially struggled to enter the house after reaching the scene.

Salman somehow managed to escape from the house and alerted the police about the attack.

When officers arrived, they found Aamir still inside the residence holding the spade. During the confrontation, he allegedly opened the valve of a gas cylinder and threatened to ignite it, creating panic throughout the neighbourhood.

Residents reportedly locked themselves inside their homes, es fearing a possible explosion as the situation turned increasingly tense.

Police said a standoff lasting nearly two hours followed before officers finally managed to overpower and arrest the accused after extensive persuasion and strategic encirclement.

Officials stated that the incident was reported around 7:45 pm when Salman informed police that his brother had murdered his wife and was preventing anyone from entering the house.

After taking the accused into custody, police recovered the blood-stained spade and other evidence from the crime scene.

A forensic team later collected blood samples and additional material from inside the house while the victim’s body was sent for postmortem examination.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Mohammad Ashiq, police registered an FIR against the accused.

Preliminary investigation suggests that intoxication and a domestic dispute may have triggered the killing, though police said further investigation is underway.
