A dead man getting up? Harry Kane of England is freed from the spell by a Ghanaian witch doctor

England and their fans have reportedly taken a moment of relief after Ghanaian spiritualist Nana Kwaku Bonsam claimed he has removed a “curse” he said he placed on Harry Kane ahead of England’s Group L World Cup match against Ghana.

The story gained attention after Kane missed a late scoring opportunity during England’s goalless draw against Ghana in Boston, which some fans quickly linked to Bonsam’s earlier remarks. The self-proclaimed spiritualist had previously claimed he cast a spell aimed at stopping the England captain from scoring in the match.

The missed chance quickly went viral, with some Ghana supporters celebrating the moment and referencing Bonsam’s alleged influence. Kane’s visible frustration further amplified the online discussion around the claim.

In an interview with LBC, Nana Kwaku Bonsam later said he had lifted the so-called curse. “Yes, yes, I lifted it yesterday,” he said, adding that Kane was not his enemy and even claimed he admired him enough to name a child after him.

He also joked that he had no intention of affecting other major teams such as Spain, France, or Argentina, and said Kane would now be free to perform without any such interference.

Bonsam added that he expected the England striker to “play and perform very, very well” in the upcoming match.

Kane, one of the world’s leading forwards, will now aim to refocus on England’s campaign as they prepare to face Panama. Despite the unusual off-field chatter, England remain in contention in Group L, where qualification remains open.
