A 23-year-old married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Haryana's Faridabad, with her family alleging that she was subjected to dowry harassment and murdered by her husband and in-laws. Police have registered a dowry death case and launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Seema, had married Praveen around two years ago. According to her family, she faced continuous pressure from her husband and in-laws to bring money and a truck from her parental home to support a construction business they had started. Relatives alleged that the demands escalated over time and that Seema was ultimately killed because the family failed to fulfil them.
Seema's family claims that her death was not a suicide. They alleged that she was murdered and her body was later hanged to make the incident appear as a case of suicide. The accusations have intensified suspicion surrounding the circumstances of her death.
Initially, Seema and her husband lived with his family after marriage. However, due to ongoing domestic disputes, the couple reportedly shifted to a rented apartment a few months ago. Despite the move, her relatives claim that the alleged harassment and demands for dowry continued.
After learning about Seema's death, her family members staged a protest at the residential society where she and her husband were living. As tensions rose and the crowd grew, local police deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order.
Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Officials said the autopsy will be conducted in the presence of the victim's family to ensure transparency in the process.
Station House Officer Prahlad Kumar stated that a thorough investigation is being carried out. Evidence has been collected from the scene, and investigators are awaiting the post-mortem report, which is expected to provide crucial details about the cause and manner of death.
Based on the complaint filed by Seema's family, police have registered a case against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and one of their relatives. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation and forensic examination.
