Due to suspicions of an affair, a man murders his widowed lover and leaves his body in a landfill

A tragic case of suspected relationship-related violence has emerged from Gujarat's Tapi district, where a 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 39-year-old widowed girlfriend after suspecting that she was involved with another man.

According to police, the victim, identified as Manisha, was found dead near a garbage dumping site located close to the historic Songadh Fort. Following the discovery of the body, law enforcement authorities launched an intensive investigation and succeeded in arresting the accused, Mahesh Gamit, within a few hours.

Investigators said that Manisha, originally from Ahmedabad, had been residing with her aunt in Songadh. She was reportedly in a relationship with Mahesh Gamit, and the two had been involved for a considerable period of time. However, police believe tensions had recently developed between them after Gamit became suspicious that Manisha was maintaining a relationship with another individual.

According to the investigation, these suspicions frequently led to arguments and disagreements between the couple. Police said that on the day of the incident, Gamit allegedly contacted Manisha and asked her to meet him near the dumping ground located close to Songadh Fort.

During the meeting, an argument reportedly broke out between the two. Investigators allege that the confrontation escalated, and in a moment of intense anger, Gamit strangled Manisha. After allegedly committing the crime, he fled from the scene, leaving the victim's body behind.

The woman's body was later discovered at the dumping site, triggering a major police operation. Given the seriousness of the case, authorities formed multiple investigation teams, including officers from the Local Crime Branch and the Special Operations Group, to identify and locate the suspect as quickly as possible.

As investigators examined the victim's background and personal relationships, they learned about her association with Mahesh Gamit. This led police to detain him for questioning. During interrogation, authorities claim that he admitted to the crime and provided details regarding the events that allegedly culminated in the murder.

Police subsequently arrested Gamit and produced him before a court, after which he was remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.

The incident has left behind a grieving family. Manisha had previously lost her husband, Ketanbhai, several years ago and was raising two children. She is survived by her 20-year-old son and her 15-year-old daughter, both of whom reside in Ahmedabad.

The case highlights the devastating consequences that can arise from suspicion, jealousy, and unresolved personal conflicts, while also underscoring the importance of addressing relationship disputes through lawful and non-violent means.
