Two Army personnel were critically injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kamalkote area of Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, sources told India Today.
The blast occurred during operational activities in the forward area, after which the injured soldiers were evacuated and taken to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for specialised medical care.
Their condition is currently being monitored closely by Army officials, sources said.
Security forces have started an investigation to determine the circumstances behind the explosion and establish whether it was an accidental incident or connected to any other activity near the LoC.
Officials said the exact cause of the blast is still under investigation.
The incident took place on the same day as a high-level meeting was held in Jammu to assess security arrangements and administrative preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting was chaired by Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and co-chaired by Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti. Senior officials from various departments and districts participated in the review.
During the meeting, authorities discussed measures to ensure a well-organised and smooth celebration on August 15.
The review included discussions on security arrangements, traffic management, parade preparations, cultural events, stage setup, illumination, drinking water facilities, medical services, sanitation and other essential requirements at M A Stadium Jammu and other venues across the division.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed all departments to complete their responsibilities within the given timeline and maintain effective coordination.
He emphasised that public safety and convenience should remain the primary focus during the celebrations while also highlighting the importance of discipline and following established protocols.
