A man is saved seconds before a speeding train thanks to a courageous move by Tamil Nadu railway employees

A railway gatekeeper risked his own life to rescue a man standing on the tracks moments before a speeding train passed near Sirkazhi in Tamil Nadu. A video of the dramatic rescue has since gone viral on social media, with many users hailing the railway employee as a hero.

The short clip, shared on X by the account Ghar Ke Kalesh, shows the gatekeeper standing near the platform when he notices a man on the railway tracks as a train approaches at high speed. Without hesitation, he runs towards the man, pulls him away from the tracks and brings him to safety just seconds before the train rushes past.

The close call has left social media users astonished, with many praising the gatekeeper's courage, quick reflexes and presence of mind.

"Respect. This gatekeeper didn't think twice. He sprinted straight into danger to save a stranger's life. Real hero stuff right here. India salutes you," one user wrote in the comments section.

Several others said such acts of bravery deserved official recognition. "Such people should be awarded so society learns from them," another user commented.

One viewer admitted they would have "frozen on the spot" instead of reacting so quickly, adding, "Some people never cease to amaze. Kudos to the gatekeeper."

Many also highlighted how crucial the timing of the rescue was. "Even a few seconds can make all the difference in life," another user wrote.

The gatekeeper's swift action and presence of mind have been widely credited with preventing what could have been a fatal accident.
