There were protests, a road roadblock, and a police lathi charge outside a government hospital on Monday after a 17-year-old kid was allegedly stabbed to death over an old quarrel connected to a football game in Baruipur. Days have passed since a minor was raped and killed in the same town. In the Palpara neighborhood of Baruipur, the victim was allegedly attacked with a sharp object next to a bank. Local sources claim that the attack was the result of tensions that had been building since his team had won a football game around three days prior.
Residents claimed that the victory had sparked a dispute between the two factions, and animosity persisted in the days that followed. The accused allegedly summoned the victim and one of his pals to a place on Monday. He was allegedly stabbed with a knife as soon as they got there, seriously injuring his neck. In serious condition, he was taken to Baruipur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. Tension in the community after the death Following the 17-year-old's death, Baruipur experienced communal tensions as a number of leaders from the Hindu Jagaran Manch, an organization that promotes Hindu interests, and other residents claimed that the police were withholding the identity of the three accused because they belonged to a specific religious group.
Some even demanded an end to the purported "jihadi appeasement" in Bengal and said that the boy's death was an example of "jihadist violence" in the region. Demanding the quick arrest of those guilty for the homicide, the demonstrators stopped the road outside the Baruipur Sub-Divisional Hospital. A police camp inside the hospital grounds was allegedly vandalized by protesters as tensions increased and the demonstration turned violent. In the meantime, the three suspects in the murder were taken into custody by the police and taken to the hospital for a required medical examination. Security staff intervened as a result of their presence, which increased tensions at the hospital.
Police used a lathi charge to break up the unruly throng and restore order. To stop the situation from getting worse, more police officers were stationed in and around the hospital and other vulnerable areas of Baruipur. West Bengal's Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Aginimitra Paul, paid the victim's family a visit and had a conversation with them.
BARUIPUR: THE SUVENDU ADHIKARI GOVERNMENT'S FIRST CHALLENGE IN BENGAL Following the brutal rape and murder of a little girl and the subsequent death of the 17-year-old, the Suvendu Adhikari administration is facing its first challenge in Bengal about two months after taking office.
A 12-year-old's body was discovered in a gunny bag from a pond last week. The girl, who vanished hours ago, was brutally tortured sexually before to her death, according to the autopsy report. The girl's family's allegation that the police failed to quickly launch an inquiry to locate the missing girl only served to stoke the flames. Furthermore, a number of residents claimed that local BJP leader Shantanu Mondol assisted one of the suspects in escaping police custody. In Bengal's political circles, worries about a deteriorating state of law and order have been raised by the rape-murder episode and the recent death of another young child.
