A purported screenshot of a Snapchat conversation allegedly involving Siya Goyal, who is accused of murdering her fiancé, businessman Ketan Agarwal, and one of her friends has surfaced, adding a new dimension to the investigation. The alleged exchange is said to have taken place on May 25, nearly three weeks before 26-year-old Ketan was allegedly pushed into a gorge at Pune's Lohagad Fort by Siya (20) and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary (22).
According to the purported chat, Siya asked her friend to send a copy of her Aadhaar card so flight tickets could be booked for a wedding. The conversation then took an unexpected turn when Siya allegedly remarked that the wedding would never take place despite asking for the document.
"Aadhaar card front back bhej de. For wedding tickets jo hone nai wali par fir bhi bhej de (Send the front and back of your Aadhaar card. It's for booking wedding tickets for a wedding that is never going to happen, but send it anyway)," the alleged message read.
The friend later responded, saying the Aadhaar card had already been shared on WhatsApp.
Investigators are now verifying the authenticity of the alleged conversation and examining whether the proposed flight bookings were part of a broader plan to divert suspicion or create a misleading narrative after Ketan's death.
At present, it is unclear whether Siya's friend had any knowledge of the alleged murder plot. However, police have identified a third individual, believed to be a classmate of Chetan, who was allegedly aware of the plan to kill Ketan.
Siya and Chetan sent to judicial custody
Ketan and Siya became engaged earlier this year and were scheduled to marry in November in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Two special flights had reportedly been arranged to transport guests for the wedding.
However, those plans came to an abrupt end on June 18 when Ketan was allegedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort, resulting in his death.
The latest development comes as investigators continue to analyse digital evidence, including chats exchanged between Siya and Chetan. On Friday, after their police custody ended, the two were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
During the court proceedings, the police sought an extension of their custody, stating that Siya and Chetan had allegedly communicated using coded language and that further interrogation was necessary. Investigators also recovered a second mobile phone belonging to Siya on Friday.
The public prosecutor argued that data extracted from the accused's mobile phones had only recently become available and that confronting the two together was necessary to decode the alleged coded conversations. The court, however, declined the request to extend their police custody.
