Actor Priyanka Chopra has reacted to the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following activist Sonam Wangchuk's 26-day hunger strike and the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
Sharing the news of Pradhan's resignation on her Instagram Story, Priyanka responded with clapping, smiling and heart emojis.
Actor Bhumi Pednekar also welcomed the resignation on Instagram, describing it as a "monumental moment for democracy" in a lengthy post.
Actors Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj and Vijay Varma also praised the youth-led movement on social media while welcoming the government's decision to engage with the protesters.
In a post on X, Kamal Haasan wrote, "Glad to see dialogue replacing confrontation. Dissent deserves dialogue. This is democracy in action. Pellet guns, electric shock batons and nail-studded lathis have no place in the land of Bapu. Equally, attacks on security personnel and public property must be examined fairly. Accountability cannot be selective."
He added that the government's willingness to engage was encouraging and expressed hope that the dialogue would lead to lasting reforms, saying the country must move forward together.
Actor Sonakshi Sinha also celebrated the development through an Instagram video addressed to Gen Z.
"You have no idea what you've achieved today. I am an artist, but Gen Z is the art," she said.
Expressing admiration for the younger generation, Sonakshi performed sit-ups as a symbolic gesture of respect.
She later wrote, "Sorry, what I meant to say was that I'm proud of you and THANK YOU. Brb now millennial sathiya gayi hai. 25.07.2026. What a day!!!"
Musician Vishal Dadlani shared a Hindi quote on Instagram that translated to, "Slavery bows in submission, while freedom questions."
In the caption, he wrote, "What a time to be alive!!! I love my country with all my heart and I love every single person who stood with the students."
Actor-comedian Vir Das also shared a message on Instagram, urging people to ignore those who constantly believe that change is impossible.
He encouraged supporters to celebrate the moment and dismissed the pessimism of those who repeatedly claim that "nothing will happen."
Director Zoya Akhtar also praised Gen Z through an Instagram Story, writing, "What a reminder this has been... Gen Z."
She accompanied the message with a quote stating, "Democracy is a system of government where power belongs to the people."
Actor Prakash Raj congratulated the protesters on X, writing, "Congratulations my dear Cockroaches, dear Sonam Wangchuk sir and every single person who stood by the youth. You have proved that you can bring a regime down to its knees."
Earlier, Prakash Raj had thanked Wangchuk for his sacrifice after he ended his 26-day hunger strike and had questioned the delay in Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
Actor Vijay Varma reacted on Instagram by sharing Pradhan's photograph with the caption, "Accha chalta hoon... duaaon mein yaad rakhna (Alright, I'm taking my leave... keep me in your prayers)."
