Private sector lender Axis Bank has appointed Rajeev Mantri, the former Chief Financial Officer of Bandhan Bank, as its new CFO.
According to a regulatory filing, Mantri will assume office on September 28, 2026, subject to the required regulatory and statutory approvals.
He will succeed Puneet Sharma, who resigned in June to pursue opportunities outside the bank. Sharma, who has served as Axis Bank's Chief Financial Officer since March 2020, is scheduled to step down at the close of business on August 31, 2026.
Mantri brings more than 20 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector. Most recently, he served as CFO at Bandhan Bank, where he oversaw the bank's financial strategy, capital management, business finance, investor relations and regulatory engagement.
Prior to his stint at Bandhan Bank, Mantri spent over 15 years at ICICI Bank, holding several senior leadership positions across finance, business planning, strategy and analytics.
Axis Bank said the appointment has been approved by its Board of Directors and remains subject to the approval of the Reserve Bank of India and shareholders, wherever applicable.
The leadership appointment comes as India's third-largest private sector bank continues to focus on improving profitability, maintaining asset quality and expanding its retail and corporate banking businesses.
