Actor Sohail Khan has recalled the emotional period when his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, was hospitalised and slipped into a semi-coma. Speaking on Prime Video's Alliance, Sohail revealed that doctors had warned the family they "might lose him."
The experience, he said, profoundly impacted him and reinforced his desire to spend more time with his parents, as he now fears losing them.
Speaking about his emotions, Sohail said, "My parents are old now. Mere bacche hain par unke paas abhi time hai (I have children, but they're still young and have time). I fear losing my parents."
He went on to describe the difficult days following his father's hospitalisation, saying the possibility of losing him left him devastated.
Recalling the incident, Sohail said, "When my father got unwell a couple of months back and was hospitalised, he went into a semi-coma. I stayed with him in the hospital. My heart sank. The doctor said, 'You might lose him.' My father and mother are very dear to me. Agar daddy ko kuch ho gaya toh (If something happens to my father), I don't know how I'll cope. For me, my parents are my life."
The 90-year-old writer was admitted to hospital on February 17 after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was taken to the hospital by the family doctor, admitted to the intensive care unit, and placed on ventilator support. Following a minor medical procedure, he remained under observation.
Several members of the film industry, including Shilpa Shetty, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and his longtime friend Javed Akhtar, visited Salim Khan during his stay in hospital.
