Video: A man kills his mother's live-in lover by stabbing him while pursuing him down the street

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother's live-in partner by repeatedly stabbing him in Gujarat's Rajkot district. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 7, in the presence of several bystanders.

The attack was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kamlesh Vaghela, while the accused, Jayant Vaghela, is the son of Kamlesh's live-in partner, Neeta.

Police arrested Jayant within hours after Kamlesh's younger brother, 25-year-old Kapil Vaghela, lodged a formal complaint.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows the accused chasing Kamlesh through an alley before catching him and repeatedly stabbing him with a sharp weapon.

According to police, Kamlesh and Neeta had been living together in a live-in relationship for the past 12 years.

In his complaint, Kapil alleged that Jayant resented his brother because the relationship with Neeta had begun while Jayant's father was still alive. He claimed this was the motive behind the killing.

Police said that during their relationship, Kamlesh had also arranged the marriage of Neeta's daughter. Investigators have found that he worked as a labourer, an official said.

The official added that Kamlesh sustained more than five stab wounds to different parts of his body during the attack.

The CCTV footage has since gone viral on social media.

In the video, Kamlesh is reportedly heard pleading with bystanders to save him and asking Jayant to spare his life, saying, "I have not done anything to anyone."

Jayant is allegedly heard responding, "Didn't I warn you?" The footage also shows another individual accompanying the accused during the incident. Police are working to establish that person's identity.
