Nepal is grappling with the widespread destruction caused by flash floods that struck Rasuwa and several other areas of central Nepal on Wednesday, after an ice and rock avalanche was triggered by a glacial collapse near the Chinese border.
According to Nepal Police, the disaster has claimed 626 lives, while thousands of people are still missing. The powerful floods damaged or destroyed roads, bridges, residential areas and hydropower facilities throughout the region.
The situation has also sparked concerns about more flooding in the days ahead. Nepalese authorities have issued warnings after water levels increased in the Bhotekoshi River area, where flooding had already occurred.
Residents and rescue teams in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli regions have been advised to stay vigilant and shift to safer areas if the situation worsens.
