A first-year medical student has been detained after a handwritten document allegedly containing instructions for making a bomb was discovered at Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College in Ayodhya. According to officials, the document was found in the college's X-ray room on Saturday by the department in charge.
The police were informed immediately, following which an investigation was launched. The incident has drawn comparisons with the November 2025 Red Fort blast case, in which three of the main accused were employees of Faridabad's Al Falah University.
What have the police found so far?
Preliminary investigations indicate that the document may have been prepared by Sarfaraz, a first-year medical student who was on duty in the X-ray room on Friday night. Sarfaraz, a resident of Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, has been taken into custody for questioning.
Two other individuals who were on duty with him are also being questioned as part of the investigation.
The handwritten document reportedly contains a list of materials used in making an explosive, including gauge wire, ammonium carbonate, red phosphorus, red sulphide and nitric acid, among other substances.
Dr Arvind Singh, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the medical college, said the police were alerted immediately after the document was recovered.
"The investigation is underway, and further action will be taken based on its findings," Singh said.
Police have not yet established that the document was connected to any criminal conspiracy, stressing that all possible angles are being examined.
Meanwhile, the college administration has heightened security measures and ordered a review of campus security arrangements.
The development comes months after authorities dismantled a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module allegedly being operated by employees of Faridabad's Al Falah University.
The module came under the scanner after an explosives-laden car exploded near the Red Fort Metro station on November 10, 2025, killing 15 people and injuring several others.
