Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the Uttar Pradesh government of corruption, alleging that honest officers were being prevented from performing their duties and were choosing to resign before completing their service.
Reacting to IAS officer Divya Mittal’s resignation, Yadav criticised the government’s response and claimed that corruption was discouraging sincere officials from working.
“Honest officers do not wish to work due to corruption. They are not allowed to function. Honest officers are unable to do their jobs,” he said.
Yadav also claimed that several officers known for working with integrity were leaving government service before reaching retirement.
AKHILESH YADAV ON ALLEGED TORTURE OF MEERUT FARMER LEADERS
Yadav condemned the alleged assault and “third-degree torture” of farmer leaders Digvijay Bhati and Mohit Jatav while they were in police custody in Meerut. The two men also described their alleged ordeal from the stage.
“I would advise them to approach the court. Once our government is formed, I will ensure they get justice and respect,” Yadav said.
He claimed that the two men had suffered serious injuries but were not permitted to undergo a medical examination.
Yadav said that if the rule of law was being followed, an FIR under Section 307, which deals with attempt to murder, should be registered against the IPS officer.
“Such an IPS officer has no right to remain in service,” he said.
ATTACK ON BJP OVER LAW AND ORDER
Yadav alleged that incidents of dacoity and looting were widespread across Uttar Pradesh and questioned whether the state government was capable of ensuring the safety and dignity of women.
He described the Bharatiya Janata Party as an “unrighteous gang” and alleged that its development models were intended to benefit people close to the party.
“They are the kind of people who would steal from a temple,” he said.
Yadav also alleged that a mafia group from another state had entered Uttar Pradesh, opened fire and escaped. Referring to the “Gogi gang”, he said the group had claimed responsibility and noted that its name resembled that of local elements.
JPNIC, CHHATAR MANZIL ‘SOLD OFF’
Yadav accused the Uttar Pradesh government of disposing of public assets, including the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC), the state’s first cow milk plant in Kannauj and Chhatar Manzil in Lucknow.
He claimed the government planned to generate revenue from JPNIC’s parking area and café.
He also alleged that money allocated for a former Prime Minister’s statue had previously been misappropriated. According to him, the statue was initially described as being made of copper but was eventually found to be made of clay.
“This government will sell everything off,” he said.
KHANGAR COMMUNITY, CASTE CENSUS AND JOBS
Yadav said members of the Khangar community continued to face a lack of employment opportunities and renewed his call for a nationwide caste census.
He said the Samajwadi Party would ensure that the Khangar community received representation and respect according to its population.
“We will honour the ‘King’ of the Khangar community by installing his statue at the most prestigious and valuable location in Lucknow, the country’s best riverfront,” he said.
Yadav also promised that the Samajwadi Party would support members of the Khangar community wherever they chose to contest elections.
He added that there were still villages in India where helicopters had never landed.
PANCHAYAT POLLS, JOBS AND WOMEN’S BENEFITS
Yadav accused the government of lacking the courage to conduct Panchayat elections.
He also questioned the promise of one lakh jobs, asking how the government would fulfil the commitment once the Model Code of Conduct came into effect after January.
On financial assistance for women, Yadav said women had previously received Rs 500 and promised that they would get Rs 40,000 if the Samajwadi Party returned to power.
He also criticised the government’s proposed Rs 50,000 assistance, alleging that the amount was effectively being divided between different beneficiaries.
‘NO SOLUTION FOR ANY PROBLEM’
Yadav claimed that the government had failed to address basic public issues.
Pointing to problems related to water supply and drainage, he said pipes had been installed for water supply while disputes over drainage continued.
“Pipes have been laid for water supply, yet people are clashing over drainage issues. Who is responsible for this?” he asked.
He further alleged that corruption and misappropriation were widespread across government departments and said it appeared as though elections were just around the corner.
Yadav also accused the BJP government of constructing a riverfront over what was previously a drain.
‘PUBLIC WILL UPROOT’ BJP
Yadav said voters would “uproot” what he described as narrow-minded and negative forces.
He again criticised the BJP’s development models, alleging that they were structured to benefit people associated with the party.
“When a road worth Rs 4,000 crore collapsed, they claimed the design was flawed,” he said.
