Actor Dhanush’s fan club functionary B Raja has issued a new announcement calling for welfare associations to be formed and new members to be enrolled across five Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, triggering fresh speculation about the actor’s possible political ambitions.
In a social media post, Raja shared details of the constituencies falling under the Coimbatore and Coimbatore South district leadership of Dhanush’s welfare organisations. The notice, dated August 8, names Coimbatore North, Koundampalayam, Singanallur, Sulur and Mettupalayam Assembly constituencies.
The announcement urges Dhanush fans in these five constituencies to establish welfare associations and bring in new members. It also asks them to coordinate with Coimbatore district president G Shankar and conduct activities under his direction.
The notice features Dhanush’s photograph and has been signed by V Subramaniya Siva, the All India President, and B Raja, the All India Secretary, of the All India Dhanush Fans and Welfare Association. Raja’s decision to make the notice public has once again drawn attention to the actor’s fan-club network.
Although the announcement does not directly mention politics or indicate that Dhanush is planning a political entry, its focus on Assembly constituencies, welfare organisations and membership expansion has fuelled speculation about his future plans.
Fan clubs associated with Tamil cinema stars have historically played a role as grassroots networks, with welfare and social-service activities often contributing to political speculation. The latest announcement’s specific reference to multiple Assembly constituencies and membership drives has therefore renewed rumours about Dhanush potentially entering politics.
However, there is currently no official confirmation of such a move. Dhanush has neither announced a political party nor indicated that he intends to contest an election.
On the professional front, Dhanush is currently working on Om: Chapter 1 and is expected to begin D56 with Tamilarasan Pachamuthu next. He is also set to reunite with director Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for an upcoming film featuring music by AR Rahman. In addition, Dhanush and Vetri Maaran are set to collaborate again on Thamizh Murugan.
