Lando Norris staged a composed comeback at Zandvoort to win the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, securing consecutive Formula 1 victories and strengthening McLaren’s championship challenge.
Starting from pole, Norris initially lost the lead to Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli after the race was restarted following Max Verstappen’s first-lap crash. Antonelli controlled the race for much of the afternoon, but Norris gradually closed the gap and made his decisive move on lap 54 of 72, overtaking the Mercedes driver around the outside of Turn 1.
A late Virtual Safety Car created further uncertainty when Esteban Ocon’s Haas stopped on track. Antonelli pitted for fresh soft tyres while Norris stayed out on older tyres. Despite the strategy gamble, Norris maintained his advantage and crossed the finish line 11.536 seconds ahead of Antonelli.
George Russell finished third, with Mercedes allowing Antonelli to remain ahead in the championship battle. Lewis Hamilton was fourth for Ferrari, followed by Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri and Liam Lawson.
The victory was Norris’ second in a row following his win in Hungary and McLaren’s third consecutive Dutch Grand Prix victory at Zandvoort.
Antonelli nevertheless extended his championship lead to 59 points with 242 points, while Norris climbed to fourth with 159 points, keeping himself firmly in contention as the season enters its decisive phase.
